doctor says have to wear foley catheter all the time

my stupid doctor says i have to leave my catheter in all the time so my bladder wont get reflux back up damages or something i dont realy like it is this normal i have neurogenic bladder and adhd so it is sorta hard to remember everything but i hate this stupid thing in my pecker all the time is my dr a quack or what?
