got off of the bag -- learned to self catheterize

Post a new topicby femaleissues on Sat Sep 29, 2007 8:27 am

Thursday I got off of my leg bag, They filled me with fluid & brought in a chair to measure what I voided, I could only void a little, so the nurse taught me to self catheterize, They want me to pee on my own then catheterize & see how much I'm retaining,

Since being home I can go, but I'm doing the catheterizing because I'm curious if I'm retaining anything (I'm female & it's easy & not painful) the good news is The catheter isn't draining much, so i think I'm back to normal.

He told me -- Its not a physical problem, he thinks it's just that I trained myself not to go outside home & my body just stopped all together. Apparently he's right, I couldn't go for him at the office, but I'm now going at home.

Should I just send him thank you note & cancel my next appointment, he gave me a prescription for catheters, So I think I'm set.

Thank you for your thoughts.

It would be best to follow up and keep your appointment, thanks for sharing that self catherization isn't so bad, a lot of peoples first reaction is that they can't do it, as you point out it is not that bad.
