Video Urodynamics Test Done Today...

Post a new topicby klbrend on Mon Mar 15, 2010 5:48 pm

I'm a 21 year old female who have reoccurring kidney infections. I have dealt with this issue for 15 years. Also, I have very mild Cerebral Palsy.

In 2008, I had a VCUG (under anesthesia) done because I had fluid in my vaginal wall -- checking for a fistula. Everything came back normal. No anatomical abnormalities. No fistula.
*300cc were put into my bladder with no reflux

Today, they put in 150cc in and I had reflux as soon as my bladder started to fill. They said it was grade 3 reflux. They said my right kidney is poorly functioning. They ordered a blood test to check the kidney function.

Prescribed a higher dose of Ditropan and a prophylactic med. Also, I need a MRI done of my spine to check to see if my spine is tethered, which can cause bladder problems.

May have to start self-cathing 4x daily.
Suggested a bladder augmentation.

This is where my question lies: I don't want to be on medicine for the rest of my life. I don't want to have to self-cath if surgery is available & will help the situation, and I can regain my quality of life. So, do you suggest the surgery? Have you ever had it done? What were the results?

What are your suggestions/personal experiences? I've been dealing with this for too long, my kidneys are scarred because of so many infections and it's just... not fun to deal with.

Thank you for reading and any suggestions you may have.
