Concerned w/ Sentinel Node Biopsy - my mom is 75

Post a new topicby shoegal on Sun Oct 28, 2007 11:09 am

Hi
My mom,75, is newly diagnosed 3 weeks ago and it is happening so fast we have not had time for a second opinion (not really crazy about her docs so far). She had a wire loc showing invasive lobular in situ stage 1 w/positive hormone receptors, tnx1. then an mri with contrast dye-they want to do the sentinel biop before we get the results from the mri - that does not sound logical. we have already met the oncologist & radiologist. does the mri show lymphnodes? can i stay with her while the dye is being injected? my mom does not want to wait for a second opinion anyway, her mom died 20 years ago and it was too late, the beast cancer had metastcized to her brain. This is all so new and confusing and the surgeon is not really fast to get back to me. any information would be appreciated. Thanks!
