How long to wait for biopsy?

Post a new topicby SueTK on Mon Oct 08, 2007 10:15 am

My sister had a mammogram, they told her to come back for another in 6 months. When she did, the old point of concern had disappeared; however, a new area was suspicious, and because it turned up in the 6 months, the doctor thought a biopsy should be scheduled. When she arrived for biopsy, she was told that the radiologist thought it was too small for a needle biopsy. The scheduling doctor said a second look was necessary by another doctor, but she hasn't heard from him. How long do you think is okay to wait for a biopsy or other procedure after that mammogram? It has been 2 months now since that mammogram. She would like to wait a month anyway because her insurance is changing--what do you think? there is no family history of breast cancer; she is post-menopause.

Hard to know with out seeing the images. Since it has been 2 months and you need to wait a month for insurance purposes getting another mammogram then to look for change seems to make sense
