needle biopsy in breastRecently my daughter (38) found two lumps on her one breast. We opted for a needle biopsy but the radiologist could not do it due to her large and dense breasts. He could not get to the lumps. I was wondering if anyone has heard of this before or has had the same problem.
Re: needle biopsy in breastsometimes it is difficult to do a needle biopsy if the breast, in some case an open biopsy needs to be done
Re: needle biopsy in breastso, it is normal to not to be able to do a needle biopsy in the breast? If you had a family history of cancer in your family, not just a couple of people but at least 14 starting at my grandmother on down, wouldn't you want to know FOR SURE that the lumps were nothing to worry about?
Re: needle biopsy in breastSounds like a reasonable concern, there are many times and in many organs besides the breast when a needle biopsy can not be done, you could always get a second opinion form a regional medical center
Re: needle biopsy in breastHer regular doctor yelled at her telling her they were not cancer without any testing. She was upset we wanted more done. I am sure the ultrasound shows what they look like and they THINK they are benign. We have asked to be referred to another doc for insurance purposes and all she did was call the doc she sent her to for biopsy and he said she has an appt with breast reduction doc, she can wait til then. In the meantime she is in quite a bit of pain with this breast. That is reason we originally went to doc and took 2 docs to actually get a mammogram cause they say they don't do them in women under 40. I am so down on doctors at this point.
Re: needle biopsy in breastGiven your experience I can't say that I blame you, although I know you want to know for sure it sounds like all the physicians that you are involved with think it is not cancer. Have you tried a breast surgeon, one that does cancer and not reductions, might be something/or someone to seek out.
Re: needle biopsy in breastI think the one doc was an oncology surgeon. He was the one who is sending her to a breast reduction doctor which she needs but it isn't helping the situation of all the pain and the lumps. I know all the doctors THINK it isn't cancer. and it very well may not be but with all the history of my family we just want to know for sure and they all think we are crazy. And then I am back to the feeling of what do they care. All they will say if it turns out to be something is , Well, guess I was wrong. and who does that hurt, not them. I guess I don't understand why they can't just send us to someone who will do something. As long as each doctor refers the insurance is good with it. Are you a doctor?
