I have a bump or swelling at the side of my big toe. There is no pain and the swelling is soft to the touch.

You may have developed a bursa in this area due to pressure from your shoes. A bursa is simply a fluid-filled pocket that forms due to pressure over bony prominences. However, you should see a podiatrist to be properly diagnosed and to make sure it is nothing more serious. Have a nice day and please write back if you have any further questions.
