Bunion operation

Post a new topicby Guest on Tue Oct 30, 2001 10:45 pm

I will have surgery Nov. 7, my big toe is now the longest and the Dr. says he has to shorten it below the second toe because that is the correct configuration. I would really like my big toe to be the longest, since it always has been, can I insist on having it this way or is doing so really wrong. I don't mind if he shortens it a little but not below the second toe. Please advise.

The proper configuration for your first and second toes is to have the big toe equal or slightly shorter than your second toe. However, if you are having difficulties with your big toe joint, having the first toe slightly smaller can be helpful. Have a nice day and please write back if you have any further questions.
