Bunion/Ankle

Post a new topicby Guest on Tue Apr 16, 2002 11:21 am

Good Morning! I have a couple of things wrong..First, have had a bunion for years, which presses on the next toe, for a few months, the toe is now numb...Is this from the bunion pressure? It is not painful..Also, I for the past few days, I have had a "burning/hot feeling" in the back of my ankle bone area,(it is not red or swollen)...it is very annoying even tho' it is intermittent...I do extensive walking on my job...if that means anything...HOpe you can help relieve my mind....Thanks " Gem "

The bunion pressure can cause enough pressure to have your toe go numb. However, if you bunion is this severe, you should have it fixed. You may have a bursa on the back of your heel from walking which can become inflammed and this would be bursitis. However, you should see a podiatrist because numb toes and burning pain are not sensations you should live with for life.

Thank you for your reply..I went to the Podatrist today, before I read your reply..He said the same thing you did about the bunion pressure, causing the numb toe,( hammertoe, as he stated I also had),,but my circulation was good...He cut my callouses, and took x-rays of both my feet..he will go over them next week with me..The burning feeling he said could be a number of things...but didn't offer any suggestions on anything...so I still don't know what's really causing this..He said Bunion Surgery was down the road, if I wish to have it done..so I will wait and see what he says next week with the x-rays...Left feeling unsatisfied...Should I get a second opinion?

You should get a second opinion when the doctor you are currently seeing does not help you. When you return to the doctor, ask for treatment options. If he cannot give you any, then you need a second opinion.
