Bunions

Post a new topicby Guest on Mon Aug 13, 2001 7:03 pm

I have had bunions for as long as I can remembr & they have gradually been getting worse over the years. Many people are beginning to notice them & ask why I don't do something about them. Can you tell me has the surgery improved over the years? I remember my mother having surgery & it seemed very painful. Do they now do the surgery by laser? Have technics changed? Is the bump just removed or do they have to realign the long bone with the toe? Is a cast involved? I can't remember what my mother had?

Surgery techniques have improved a great deal. They do not use laser however. You should not need a cast. They do have to cut the bone so it can be realigned in most cases. You should see a podiatrist so you can have all your questions answered and a more detailed explanation of the procedure.
