7months post-op and still in major pain!Feb. 2, 2001 I had foot surgery removing a bunion at the base of my big toe and one at the base of my little toe. Pins were put in also to keep both toes straight. Now, 7 months later I have great pain that radiates across the "ball" of my foot or shall I say all along the base of my toes. There is still visible swelling in this area. The surgeon is quite stumped and sent me for a 2nd opinion. The 2nd doctor is quite stumped also. I am currently wearing a pad on the base of my foot for the past 10 days but have found no relief in this either. Any information would be geatly appreciated. I am 43 years old, average height and weight. All of the x-rays appear normal. Thank-you for your time.

Re: 7months post-op and still in major pain! You may want to try physical therapy such as ultrasounds and whirlpools to help soothe the pain and swelling in the area. Physical therapy can reduce scar tissue and nerve pain after surgery in many cases.

Re: Re: 7months post-op and still in major pain!Hi, I ran across your letter while researching my problem, I have the same problem in my right foot that you have. I experience pain constantly with unbearable pain in the little toe area occassionaly. The pain & sweeling running across your foot can be related to nerve pain. Have the doctors tried you on the drug nuerotin for nerve pain? Also, have you been fitted with orthodics for proper balance in you foot?
This email is mainly support to let you know you are not alone. I have had total forefront reconstructive surgery on my left foot & am presently needing it again. I was told today that I only have about 1 yr left to walk. I hope you find some relief in your pain.
