New bunionMy bunion is only a week old. The initial pain and discomfort have been dealt with by NSAIDS (Ipuprofen, 800mg, twice daily). Now the bunion is stable, by stable I mean the pain is all but gone. There is slight pain, but only once in a while. My concern is the future and the progressness of a bunion, i.e. the damage that a bunion can do to a foot and person.
Since my bunion is new, and it's small yet, I understand that one treatment is soaking the foot in vinegar and warm water daily and taking NSAIDS (Ibuprofen). I have Hepatitis C, and fibrosis of my liver. The Hep-C is stable also because I did the treatment, but I still monitor what I ingest, particularly, Ibuprofen which can be hard on the stomach and liver. Because of the two conditions, I need to balance the ibuprofen, i.e. 800mgs I fear is too much for my liver to metabolize, would 250mgs (which an over the counter medication of ibuprofen usually sells at) be enough for treating a bunion? By treating, I'm hoping to shrink the bunion and maybe cause it to go away. Bottom line is I'm looking for advice on treating a new bunion with ibuprofen, like Advil (250mgs ibuprofen). (If possible, pleae e-mail reply to mordido999@aol.com)
Re: New bunionUnfortunately, your bunion cannot be treated with ibuprofen. Bunions do not occur overnight so you may have a more acute injury that needs to be treated. You should not take a lot of ibuprofen with liver problems. You need to be seen by a podiatrist so you can receive proper medical advice. Have a nice day and please write back if you have any further questions.
