painful walkI am a 23 year old woman who has never had any foot problems. A week ago, it began difficult for me to walk or put any pressure on my left foot. The pain is below my big toe, I can't really move or bend it. I have been walking with a severe limp since then. While I am sitting I am fine, but standing and walking are very painful. I thought it was a bunion I saw a podatrist today who took an x-ray and said it looked normal. He said I probably just tore ligament tissue and it hasn't healed yet. I exercise about 3 times a week and he thinks that may be related. He only offered that I stay completely off my feet for 4 days to let it heal.
Do you think that it could be a torn ligament? I have such difficulty walking on it that I think it could be more serious. What else could I do to help it heal more quickly? Elevate it, soak it in hot or cold water? Whatever advice you have would be greatly appreciated.
Re: painful walkThe sesamoids are two small bones underneath your big toe. You may have injured them and this is known as sesamoiditis. You can read more about this under the conditions sction of podiatrychannel.com. It also may be a ligament injury but if it is not getting better, you may want to get a more exact diagnosis and treatment plan.
