To have surgery or not??

Post a new topicby jpeter29 on Tue Aug 25, 2009 9:00 pm

I am an 80 year old woman with bunions on both feet. Neither bunion is painful, but the one on my left foot has resulted in an annoying irritation between my big toe and my second toe. I also have a recurring painful callus at the bottom of that foot. All the toes on that foot are also hammertoes, but are not painful. My right foot has a bunion and the second toe is a hammertoe that overlaps the third toe. Despite the fact that the right foot has no pain or irritation the podiatrist recommends surgery to cure the bunion and the hammertoe. Should I go ahead with surgery on that foot, or just have surgery done on the painful left foot?
