top of foot bunion

Post a new topicby Guest on Sun Jan 27, 2002 3:30 pm

my husband has what has been diagnosed as bunion but it is on the top of his foot rather than proturding from the side. is this bunion called something different so that we can search treatment options on the web? we see regular bunions but nothing concerning bunions which manifest on top of the foot. thank you.

Typically this is called hallux limitus or hallux rigidus. It means the big toe joint is jamming and causing arthritis. This is what causes the bump on the top of the foot. Have a nice day and please write back if you have any further questions.
