Hi Im not sure if you go back to this sight but for me i hope you do. I was told that I had cervical dysplasia about a couple of weeks ago and It just started sinking in and I feel like I have no where to turn but I read your story and I you gave me some comfort. Thank you. I plan on going to talk to my doctor tommorrow. I have surgery set for July 9th. You already know I'm sure how I feel. It stays with you 24/7. I wish I could talk to you in person but if you get on and read this let me know. So I don't feel so alone. Thanks

Thanks for posting. After my 2nd child I discovered I had HPV. It's almost 3 years later, 3 paps, all abnormal, 1 coloscopy, and am now scheduled for the LEEP procedure. I have moderate to severe dysplacia and my docs and everyone I speak with all act like this is no big deal at all. The coloscopy was like a rough pap, not a big deal and I'm hoping the LEEP will be very similar. Just wanted to write as it seems like most of the posts are very upset and scared. Maybe many of you are young?? I think that we are all lucky to have caught the HPV before it turns into Cervical Cancer. We don't have CANCER. I guess I just feel blessed to have health insurance, and to have caught this early enough to get simple and almost pain free treatment! Good luck to all!

Hi there - I am going in for my first coloscopy in a couple of weeks after having had 2 abnormal paps and being diagnosed with HPV.

In your post, you mentioned: The 2 most important things to decrease the risk of recurrence are 1. clear margins and 2. resolution of the virus.

What do you mean by "clear margins" and "resolution of the virus"? Is this something one has control over?
