This past July I had my first abnormal pap EVER. The results showed I had HPV I was shocked and so embarrassed. I was a month away from my wedding. I went back in for the colposcopy and a follow up laser procedure– this was just two weeks before my wedding. I had a follow up pap in November, along with a colposcopy in December. You sound like me, except that I've never had a normal pap. A couple things to keep in mind, don't condemn yourself to cancer just yet. I know it's hard not to think of the future, but according to most research 70% of mild cases clear up on their own. I don't know how long that takes, I wish I did, then it would be easier to have hope, but oh well. Another thing, talk to your man about it if you haven't alreadly. Make sure he knows and understand what you are going through. That support could mean all the difference in the world. I think one of the biggest things that gets me is that you read all of the preventions such as don't sleep with a lot of people, don't smoke, don't have sex before 18 and we don't do anything of that yet we still get something. Ya look at all the other people who sleep around and don't care what they do to their bodies and wonder if they have to go through anything like this. But, you can't beat yourself up about it or compare your situation to others. It's hard, but it would only make you feel worse about yourself and your situation. Stay positive, talk about it, it's a lot easier to cope when we share. :)
