What to do?I have had abnormal Paps before from of life of risky behavior, but now it is catching up. I just found out I have severe dysplasia. I was given the options of a partial hysterectomy or LEEP & aplasia. I have four kids already and my husband is content with that. As you the partial hysterectomy would prevent reoccurance but I’m nos sure what the side effects may be down the road. Right now I’m just debating what to do.

Re: What to do?I just went to the doctor today and I am in the same situation as you......I too "have a history of bad paps from a life of risky behavior". I don't want a hysterectomy. I am so scared of having to go thru this. I too have four children.
Re: What to do?I went thru the exact thing back in 2001; I had the abnormal pap, biopsy, then the LEEP, and then the options came because at the 2 month repeat pap the dysplasia was back, moderate but still it was back so I decided to go with the partial hyst. Surgery, recovery everything was a piece of cake. I was told by my Dr to make sure I got a pap every year but everytime I had one done I was told I didn't have to have one even though I explained I was told I should (I moved out of state and had to change Dr's). I had 2 normal paps, so because I am mid 40's I thought I'll go see a female obgyn, more so to deal with hot flashes ect, well this is the first Dr who said I am going to do a pap (other Dr's I had to ask to do it)...so 3 weeks after my pap I get a call I have a abnormal pap! I was in shock, I never ever thought I would have to go thru another biopsy....I have another week before my appt and am still kinda in a fog about this...after the hyst and 2 good pap's I thought I was in the clear...so ladies just remember just because you get the partial hyst doesn't mean "it's all over"...it is still coming back to haunt me 7 1/2 yrs later.
