Cevical Dysplasia Question.

Post a new topicby missy48059 on Sun Oct 21, 2007 10:10 pm

OK I found out I had Cervical Dysplasia about 3 years ago, but I can't afford to get it treated. I have no insurance. So what I was wondering if dysplasia can cause me problems getting pregnant and how long does it take to turn into cervical cancer?

I asked my gynecologist about getting pregnant while having cervical dysplasia. He told me that it would be difficult for me to concieve. I have had cervical dysplasia for 3 years also. In my case with having cervical dysplasia it progessively got worse. Its an up hill battle and I understand fully what you are going through.

you may want to ask your gynecologist about it. i asked mine about it when i went in and see him, he helped explain it all to me. it was helpful to me, i thought that i just couldnt have kids and felt guilty because my husband and i both want children. your gynecologist may be able to help or even your regular doctor could help answer questions and give you solutions. plus if that doesnt help you can do a lot of research yourself online.

Has it been 3 years since you have had a pap smear? If you are planning on getting pregnant I would suggest having a follow up pap first. The dysplasia could have resolved itself or it could have gotten worse. Don't know if it can cause you problems getting pregnant. I do know that some of the treatment can cause fertility problems or problems in the cervix staying closed...in which case they do a simple procedure to sew it shut until you are so far along and then they remove the stitch.
Everything I've read....and I've done extensive research for about 5 years now on HPV and dysplasia.... says they do not know how fast it can turn to cancer. It usually takes a very long time BUT if that's the case why are the cervical cancer rates climbing in younger and younger women?

Hey girls, I reckon that cervical dysplasia is jumping higher in younger and younger women
these days because aparantly they like to see if a young girls immune system will fight
it off or something like that. Its disgusting and if someone is diagnosed with this it should be fully
looked into straight away. Anyway thats what I think. I have just been told that I have cin11 and my
Doctor has put me in straightaway for colposcopy which is on the 29th Feb.
So can anybody tell me how this happens to us? Does this mean that our partners may have been
unfaithful ? Can someome please tell me?

i wouldnt say that it is your partner being unfaithful that may be the case but might not be. my gyno told me that i could have gotten the dysplasia genetically. my mother had the same problems i am having. so maybe look into your family medical history. i dont know what to say though. i had the leep procedure done a year ago and that worked for me. i am dysplasia and cancer free, and thankfully my partner didn't become infected with the virus. you could have been carrying the virus around and nothing being noticed in your anual pap tests. there are a lot of things that could possibly be the reason that the doctors suddenly discovered it.

I had moderate-high grade dysplasia. We caught it just in time to get rid of it the first time. But then it came back and it came back even worse. I had 4 cryotherapies, I then had them do the biopsy and just remove it. Then it came down to me having to have surgery. I went to the hospital and they took me into the operation room, and burnt my whole cervix. If I would have decided not to have the surgery I would have cancer right now. If you have any questions for me ask, I have been dealing with the dysplasia since I was 16 years old.

I am having the colposcopy this Friday. I am scared and worried all the time, but ill be ok
wont I? There is so much they can do isnt there? How long did you have to wait for the results
if the colposcopy? Do they let you know whats going on while they are doing it or what
think of what they are seeing? Im nervous about it, does it hurt? Should I take somethign
to relax me? Sorry im bombarding you with questions there is just so much I want to know
and I guess I just want to be assured that ill be fine.
