Hi there,

My name is Wahkuna and I am 34 years old, I have just found out that I have this Dysplasia.
Ijust really need women who I can talk to who are or who have been in the same situation.
My pap smear results came back as High Grade Squamous Intraepithelial Lesion and then it also says
moderate squamous dysplasia. I am scared and I havent yet been for my colposcopy.
If there is anybody out there that can talk to me about this I would appreciate it so much:)

Thanks
Wahkuna

Over the past seven months I went from mild dysplasia to severe. My first pap came back as mild. Went back 3 months later and they felt it had worsened and did the colcoscopy. It's a pretty simple procedure and I didn't think it hurt at all, just felt like little pricks. My results from that came back as moderate and they decided to do the leep procedure. I just had that done a little over a week ago. That procedure to was simple and painless as well. They did another biopsy before the leep and those results came back as severe. I express my concerns to my doctor that I progress so quickly but he just kept assuring me that the leep procedure ususally takes care of it. Right now I'm just trusting in that and I go back in 3 months to be checked. Now that I've started talking to people I know about this condition it seems VERY common and no one that I know has had any additional problems after having a leep.

Hi and thanks so much for replying. So after you had your pap smear that told you
you had this, did the doctor send you for the coloscopy then or did they make you
wait and come back for another smear test? I had my smear test about 2 weeks ago
and I got the results last Monday 18th Feb, my coloscopy is on the 29th of Feb.
Im just really freaked out by all of this and I want it to be over. I hope and pray for
you that everything is ok and Im sure it is. I was talking to to my very best friend who
is a Sister, and she was telling me that she has seen so many come in with this and they
have all been ok, 91 percent out of 100 come out cured fine, so be positive ok.
I know its easier to say than do but hey I know how you must feel cause I feel the same.
Hope you respond again. Also is there any other women out there who can chat to us too?
I am finding that it is helping me so much by talking to others about theyre experience.
Would love to chat to anyone else willing to respond.

After my first bad pap they had me come in for another one after three months. That one came back bad as well and that's when they scheduled me for my colcoscopy. I've never been a worrier. I've always had the attitude that I'm not going to worry until I'm told there is something to worry about. The thing that freaked me out was that after the first bad pap he told me it usually takes like 10 years for those bad cells to develop into cancer so when I went from mild to severe in such a short period of time it worried me. My doctor assured me that regardless of that the leep procedure does usually take care of it so that's what I'm going with. Life is too short to worry about the what if. I'm a very positive person and probably take things lighter than I should. Getting responses from other women and just reading some of the other stories helps greatly. Hang in there and stay positive. The procedures are a piece of cake, not my idea of fun but really no big deal.

Thanks! Wow I cant believe that your doctor made you wait 3 months, he should have
sent you in straight away. So good to hear that you are a positive person, I am too I am
always looking for the positive in every situation, and so far in regards to this situation I
have inspired 3 women to go and have a papsmear who havent had one in like 12 years!
I am feeling better now especially talking to others about it so thanks heaps for chatting
to me. Id love to know how you go if you dont mind. Dont know you of course but I will
be sending my positive thoughts and energy to you anyway.

My doctor made it sound like 3 months was the norm. I think typically it takes a long time for the cells to develop/change and mine just seemed to go at warp speed but not fast enough for them to not be able to take care of it. Feel free to check in to see how my next one goes. Hopefully it will be free and clear and that can just help you feel better about your situation as well. I'll send some positive energy your way as well. Every little bit helps! Take care.
