PATULOUS & NULLIP CERVIXHi ! ...I have just recieved my cytology report for my PAP test . I had moderate cell changes a number of years ago and had a coloscopy. Everything has been fine with all further PAP tests negative. The latest results are also negative and everything ok - just recommended that i do a routine recall. I have some slight concerns please could anyone enlighten me!..It says "inflamed looking cervix . OS PATULOUS AND NULLIP " slight contact bleed .
I suffered from PID approx one year ago which has been successfully treated with a number of courses of two different antibiotics . I have had no sexual contact since and my results state there is no evidence of specific infection...and i have regular checks with GP who assures me i do not have PID . Im not sure why i have inflamed cervix perhaps this is consiquence or a complication of PID . I am really quite nworries about OS PATULOUS AND NULLIP . If anyone could explain this terminology i would be so grateful!. Thanks for reading...
Re: PATULOUS & NULLIP CERVIXHaving had a little anxiety about the terminology OS Patulous and Nullip which was stated on my Pap report ...(thankfully the actual Pap test was negative ) but i have had a coloscopy and treatment for CN 2 cells a number of years ago. I have since learned that "Patulous" means "spreading" and the term would be used if the opening of the 'os' (opening) was a bit "floppy". The term "nullip" means that the cervix has the appearance of not having a delivery in the past . (i have not had a baby as yet).
I now understand that neither medical terms indicate anything to worry about or anything suspicious. Hoping that explaining the term is helpful to anyone else who was unsure of the terminology or has had similar on their reports.. Katty1
