Head & Neck Cancer & Chemo.

Post a new topicby Guest on Mon Nov 19, 2001 9:12 pm

I am a speech-Language pathologist working with a patient who has undergone surgery and chemo for buccal mucosal and neck cancer. His swallowing function is within normal limits, however his sense of taste is severly diminished. Is there any hope his sense of taste will return?

In general there may be some return of taste to pretherapy levels however the return is slow (over years) and is never complete. Thank you for using oncologychannel and good luck.
