oral chemotherapyPls, I am desperately seeking side effects of tomoxafin on the elderly. They are starting my 82 yr old grandmother on this new drug and I want to know all I can possibly know about it. Pls, I am stressed out and don't know that an 82yr old aneroxic woman should take this and radiation on. HELP??????!!!!!!
Re: oral chemotherapySmoky,
My grandma was diagnosed at 82 years old also. She had liver, kidney and lung cancer. She started Chemo treatment, all it did was make her very tired and comprimised her quality of life. Since your grandma is in her 80's she and the family should weigh out priorites of what would make her the most happiest. If she isn't in pain, maybe holding off on a treatment that would make her sick and tired isn't the way to go. Especilly if she is aneroxica. Good Luck!! Re: Re: oral chemotherapyFirst, tamoxifen is not a new drug and has been around for at least the last 20 years. It is used around the world and millions of women have been sucessfully treated with this drug. It is not chemotherapy but is hormonal therapy. Side effects include hot flashes, dry skin etc. I would suggest going to the drug store and obtaining the package insert for the medication to learn more about this drug. Thank you for using oncologychannel.
