Selecting Chemo Type

Post a new topicby Guest on Tue Dec 04, 2001 11:10 am

I am 47 in great health other than the high grade mamunary carcinoma, predominatly ductial differentition, focal lobular componentm Extensive mucin component 1.7 cm estimated tumer which was removed on 11/13/01. It had 0% estrogen receptor, 8% Progesterone receptor a Ki-67 proliferation index: 79% and Her-2/neu 0.7 negitive( not amplified. I had sential node surgery on 11/28/01 and the two sential nodes removed are not canceres. I am going this morning for addition surgey to obtain a clean margin on the tumer area we got all but one spot on the 28th.

My question is how much Chemo and what type should I be getting. The decision tree from ACC says it is recomended. I just wonder how much and when should I start. My surgen is talking wbout using CAM but I have not met with a oncology Doctor yet and want to ask the right question. Thanks Donna

There are many different chemotherapy combinations. These include AC; FAC; and more recently FEC (5-FU, Epirubicin and Cytoxan). I currently use FEC for 6 cycles and begin the therapy approximately 3-4 weeks after surgery. Thank you for using oncologychannel and good luck.
