frustrating…CFS???Aug. 15 2008 I was on the couch for 3 days with something that felt like the flu (but no other signs of flu, just TIRED). That was the beginning. Different things have happened since. It seems to be affected mostly by DOING things. Activity. I can’t seem to do things without having to pay for it for weeks or so. I changed doctors after being told it was anxiety or in my head. I finally found a new doctor who acknowleges that CFS exists. He said it may be Fibro. but I tend to think ...Read the full article

Re: frustrating…CFS???HI BRENDA,
ITS HARD TO SAY IT ALL, I WAS ALWAYS ACTIVE NOT LIKE YOUR SISTER BUT ACTIVE ABOUT 10 YRS AGO I WAS DIAGNOSE WITH FIBERMYALGA I WAS ALWAYS IN PAIN MOSTLY IN THE PRESSURE POINTS . THEN THERE WAS A TIME I WAS EXPERIENCING NUMBNESS ON THE LEFT SIDE OF MY FACE AND MY LEFT LEG , THEY DID RULE OUT M.S. AND SAID IT WAS ANXIETY AND WANTED TO PUT ME ON PROZAC, I THOUGHT NO WAY, BUT I SAID I WOULD TRY, AND I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT BUT THE NUMBNESS WENT AWAY. I TOOK IT FOR A WHILE AND THEN KINDA SLOWLY STOP TO SEE IF IT WOULD COME BACK. AND IT DID. I FELT REALLY DIZZY, NUMBNESS. WEAK SO I'M ON IT STILL IT'S BEEN ABOUT 5 YRS. ANYWAY I'M 47 WITH 3 KIDS, AND IT SEEMS THE BODY PAIN IS UNDER CONTROL, I HAVE GAINED WEIGHT ALL AT ONCE THAT I CAN'T LOOSE AND MY SLEEPINESS IS OUT OF CONTROL I HAVE TIMES WHEN I WILL SLEEP FOR 2 DAYS. AND I HAVE FALLEN ASLEEP DRIVING 3 TIMES, ITS WEIRD I FEEL TIRED, SO I CRACK THE WINDOW, PUT RADIO ON LOUD, SING, AND NEXT SECOND I'M WAKEN BY A HORN. IVE BEEN SO TIRED THAT IT FEELS LIKE I'M MEDICATED I'M ON ADDEROL TO HELP KEEP ME AWAKE. I HAD A SLEEP TEST 3 YRS AGO AND WAS DIAGNOSE WITH SLEEP APNEA WAS PUT ON CPAP. I HAD A HARD TIME WITH THAT, ANY WAY I WENT TO ANOTHER SLEEP CLINIC 2 WEEKS AGO AND WAS TOLD I DID NOT HAVE SLEEP APNEA, MAYBE NARCOLAPCY IT WASN'T CONCLUSIVE SO ANYWAY TOMRO IM GOING TO A SPECIALIST WHO HAS A LOT MORE ADVANCEMENT, AND YES IT IS NICE WHEN PEOPLE BELIEVE THIS IS REAL BECAUSE IT IS. KEEP IN TOUCH. LORIL
Re: frustrating…CFS???Gday Brenda,
Sounds to me like fibromyalgia...... You said " I’ll have bad weeks and then start to feel better like I’m over it, then do something that has abit of activity with it boom, back to fatigue, soreness, dizzy, nausea..." . To me that is typical of fibro..... i think CFS tends to be more consistent without periods of improvement.... But you can have both..... I have fibro but I had a LONG period of CFS after having a virus reoccur that I last had 15 years ago as a teenager (cytomegalovirus).... I was fatigued and felt ill also (fluish, weak, dizzy) for about 1 - 1.5 years.... then the CFS aspect gradually went away and I was left with fibro... and just like you said - just when you have a blind hope that you have recovered BANG you are back fatigued again.... for me it is largely weather dependant but there may also be a cyclical factor.... i usually dont go 2 weeks without having 2 or 3 "bad" days where i dont feel like doing anything except TV or reading... but if its sunny every day I can go ten days in a row feeling great , doing quite a lot of exercise etc. But a bad day will come regardless or how little or how much I do.... Sleep is also important.... disturbed sleep where u keep waking up can be a big problem... I sleep woith nasal strips as I was partially waking up from breathing through my mouth all night (waking with dry mouth is symptomatic)... I also have delayed sleep phase syndrome which is common with fibo. In regards to the naysayers...... Im 37 and havent worked for 4 years due to this - i quit a high paying job in IT. I have no government support and no income. I could have a career in music....but cant rely on my health to be able to turn up to gigs etc.....Why would I choose to do that if not ill ?? I studied pyschology for 2.5 years and I know I am not deluded. Dont let the ignorant doubters get you down.... ask them if they think they have an open mind to things ? Fibro will challenge them on this .... even the docs dont have this thing covered - ignorance abounds !! Check out the ProHealth website...... Hope that helps. Good luck, jimi
