Life-long depression

Post a new topicby livingwith on Wed May 20, 2009 3:53 pm

I have had depression at least since grade 10. My mother was not aware of it because I had a social life. I probably was depressed a lot earlier considering the upheaval in my home. I did not seek treatment until college; those attempts were futile. I did not get any help until Prozac came out; when the Prozac petered out I was put on Lexapro and Wellbutrin, a great combination for me. I have been told I have a chemical imbalance and will be on depression meds the rest of my life. I now am...Read the full article

I'm sorry to hear of your condition. I recently was told by my doctor she thinks I may be suffering from depression. I am going to go see a counsoler to be fully evaluated, and the thought of me being depressed greatly saddens me. My doctor recomended I go on Wellbutrin, but I am afraid to have to depend on medicaton the rest of my life. How do you cope with this and does your doctor believe being on medication has resulted in the brain cancer that has now developed?

Depression isn’t something that is develop by genetics. The problem to deal with such things these days is that “Doctors” are the ones to prescribe drugs in order to “help” you. Things is, they are making money regardless of the outcome that the patients have. I’m not down talking all the Doctors of course. There are some that do care for the patients, the hard thing is to notice which ones are the sincere ones to believe and which to avoid. Depression hits hard mostly when you are told that you do in fact have “depression”. Medications aren’t very helpful towards the end no matter how good they make you feel. Doctors evaluate only to what they believe sometimes, sometimes they are right and at times they are wrong. Coping with ‘Depression’ isn’t easy but none the less it can be done. Being prescribe drugs will only make you at most an addict to the feeling but it won’t help you within. I wouldn’t recommend drugs for such an issue. The fact that there are Doctors that only look out for their money is depressing enough, so I’m sorry for that factor. However, just believe that there are other ways to deal with such a problem. There are, just find ‘em
