side effects of wellbutrinHi,
I am a 35 female, with a Dx of depression and PTSD. I have been happily taking effexor 75mg/day and wellbutrin 150mg/day for at least a year now. Since I have been experiencing increasing problems with PMS moodiness and wellbutrin is sometimes used for this, my psychiatrist increase my dose (gradually) to 400mg/day (and didn't change the effexor). Not long after the dose reached 400mg I developed pink/red blotches on my trunk, and legs. They are sometimes very itchy but not always. They last about 3 day and then go away only to return again in a couple of days in the exact same locations. Sorry so long but here are my questions. 1)Does this sounds like a wellburtin side effect to you? 2)Is it true that once you develop a reaction like this to wellburtin you have to go off of it immediately and completely or it may have life threatening effects? 3) If #2 is true, what will it do that could be life threatening? I mean what body systems would it effect that drastically? Thank you very much Doctor.
Re: side effects of wellbutrinIt could well be a side effect of the Wellbutrin.
If the reaction is severe, it can spread to mucous membranes in throat and lungs. On the other hand, most dermatologists find that so called drug rashes are not related to drugs but other factors. These rashes do not call for drastic measures, the hard part is differentiating between the two. I would call your MD immediately and probably get a derm consult. I am not sure that I would continue at 400 mg. I really can't give any more specific advise. [quote] Hi, I am a 35 female, with a Dx of depression and PTSD.
