i need help!!!!!!!!!I need to know what this means....this is what the dr. siad.....
MRI of the brain: Noncontrast images were acquires utilizing T1, T2, FLAIR, diffusion and proton density weighted sequences in the axial plane and a sagital T1 weighted sequence. In addition, T1-weighted axial and coronal images were acquired after Gadolinium contrast administration. Noted on all sequences, is a high signal lesion in the suprasellar region, within the tuber cinereum, hypothalamus or possibly in the optic chiasm. The lesion is somewhat "push-pin" shaped, with a linear anterior component and a round, bulbous posterior component, and measures 9 mm AP x 5 mm wide x 5 mm craniocaudally. This is likely an incidental finding, and differential considerations include a small lipoma or dermoid. as the lesion contains signal consistent with fat and there is no enhancement after contrast. There are no other foci of abnormal signal intensity within the brain. Normal gray-white differentiation is prewwerved. Normal flow viods are seen within the major intracranial vessels. There is no evidence of intracranial hemorrhage, shift of midline structures, extre-axial fluid collection, mass or mass effect. Ventricles and cisterns maintaina normal configuration without evidence of hydrocephalus. On the gadolinium enhanced images, there are no areas of abnormal enhancement. Normal vascular enhancenent is observed. No abnormal signal is visualized within the paranasal sinuses or mastoid air cells. On Sagittal images, the cerebeliar tonsils remain above level of the foramen magnum without evidence of chiari. malformation. thus upper cord is grossly normal. IMPRESSION: 1. Small suprasellaar lesion in the tuber cinereum, hypothalamus or perhapes partly within the optic chiasm. Hyperintense on all sequences wiht no contrast enhancement. Likely an incidental finding, most consistent with a small lipoma or dermoid. I am sorry that this is long. But if you could help me I will be thankfull. My DR. will not call me back..so I am turning to you.
Re: i need help!!!!!!!!!I am sorry that I can really give you an interpretation of your study without actually seeing it. However, small incidental findings like lipomas are common in MRI and often mean very little.
If you are unable to reach your doctor, I'd suggest trying to get in touch with the radiologist who read your MRI. I cannot emphasize this too much, you are entitled to a discussion of these findings one of the physicians working on your case. Don't take no for an answer.
