Low Field MRI

Post a new topicby Guest on Fri May 31, 2002 3:56 pm

I was diagnoised with possible MS with
first MRI Flair diffusion weighted images showing multiple puntate areas of T2 hyperintensity in deep white matter and the largest abnormality in subcortical white matter in left frontal region.

Followup MRI was ordered 6 mths
later using open low field magnet which indicated that images were degraded by motion artifact. Why would a low field magnet be used for follow up instead of
high field? Is there any comparative benefits?

Thanks!
