vasovagal/syncope /fainting during CT scan

Post a new topicby blasky on Sat Jan 12, 2008 7:10 pm

My son has been in pain head and neck for 5 months. seen many docs, ENT'sm neuroogist oral surgeon. had 2 MRI's. We went in for CT scan w/ contrast. He had a severe vasovagall response to the saline being administered through IV . Most likely he was dyhdrated and he was anxious about the radiation ( not the needle). He is 16 why should this hapen and how often does this happen. We did end up completing the test. he had no reaction to the iodine. I hope they find whats wrong the MRI's were normal. But he keeps saying there feels like something is in his throat region. Has anyone out here had a simliar experiance

At 16 your son might be experience some growth in this area. It would not appear abnormal on any scan. Of course growth does not usually hurt either. Just a thought. Perhaps an endocrine panel would show something.
