Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding

I was diagnosed on Monday with the Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding and put on Premarin. I took 3 pills the first 3 days, 2 the next 2 days and the last day 1. I am on day 4 of this and still bleeding fairly heavily. This is day 16 of my period and I just wanted to know if this med was supposed to stop the bleeding? The clotting has gone down to only a few clots a day, but the bleeding is still pretty heavy.
