hello survivors!

Post a new topicby carolinagirl on Tue Jul 28, 2009 11:13 pm

I've just been diagnosed with stage 1 endometrial cancer - I have an appointment for more information tomorrow. I am checking out this forum hoping to hear others' stories and to get advice from anyone who has been where I am. If you have advice or information to share I'd love to hear from you.

I'm a 53 year old who has not entered menopause (but I gather I will very shortly, as radical hysterectomy seems to be the primary recommended treatment). I had been having some odd bleeding and spotting which I initially attributed to pre-menopause stuff, but which I wanted checked out - and that is how it was discovered.

I don't know anyone else with this diagnosis - so I'd especially love to hear your survival stories.

Peace and health to you.

Some experience w/treatment

I was diagnosed with uterine cancer (stage 3) about 6 months ago. I had surgery, chemo, and radiation. Not many side-effects and everything has gone well. I hear that I have about 60% chance of surviving 5 years with stage 3.

If you have any questions, please ask.

Regards,
Jane

Good news - Stage I is the most curable because once the uterus is out, no more cancer. It's when the cancer cells migrate through the uterus and into the abdominal cavity that there is a problem. It sounds like the caught it early and you should live as long as you would have if you never had it! Toni

Hi there,

I notice your post was from this summer and was curious what treatment you received. My mother in law was diagnosed with Stage 1c, grade 2 endometrial cancer and we are trying to decide what treatment to do now. The doctor is recommending a clinical trial or radiation.

Any info you have would be great!

Thanks and hope you're doing well.
