It is ruining my lifeHello. I am 28 and have known that I have endo for 4 years. I have always had pain during my period and I have always went months between my periods. The doctors just put me on birth control and told me that the pill would cure my problem.
A year after I had my daughter, I was going to the bathroom to get ready for work. The next thing I remember my husband was picking me up out of the floor. He took me to the ER and they told me I had cysts on my ovaries and one had ruptured. I had to f...Read the full article
Re: It is ruining my lifeHello,
I read your post and was deeply moved by your situation. I struggled with the pain of endometriosis so bad that I was relying on percocet regularly to cure the pain. What suprises me still is that so few doctors and sources give us any other options besides hormones and surgery. I couldn't tolerate hormone therapy and certainly wasn't impressed by the long-term statistics on the results from surgery, so I went searching for an alternative. I started accupuncture and can say that in the six months since I have started, I have experienced only one painful episode. In fact, I even found several accupuncturists covered by my healthcare plan so I only pay a small copay! I started out going twice a week for awhile and now go once every 2-3 weeks. I can't tell you how much it has helped my life! I also relate to your worry over the pain associated with sex. I often felt pain and discomfort and only now that I don't have it at all do I realize how much of a problem it once was. The accupuncturists that I have worked with have said that most women experience some degree of relief and that my experience is hardly unique. If you're in as much emotional and physical pain as you seem to be, I highly recommend giving this procedure a try. They get me cozy, poke me with a bunch of needles (which don't really hurt) and turn heat lamps on me while I snooze for about 25 minutes. It's become my getaway from the kids after a long day! I'm also researching the use of herbs, which apparantly works for a lot of women also. Right now I'm still pouring through the info, but I'll post more when I sort through it. Good luck to you! You'll get through this!
