ED and Numb Cold feeling?

Post a new topicby jimmiefan on Thu Mar 13, 2008 2:38 pm

For the past couple months I have been experiencing ED and notice a difference in my penis while flaccid, as well. I have noticed shrinkage, as well as, a numb cold feeling.

I went to my Primary Care, he sent me for blood work. My testosterone was in the low of the average levels. He has now sent me for further blood work to test other related levels to see if this is the cause. He is on vacation for a week. I am 32 yrs old. If this is not due to testosterone, what else could it be? I am a little young for permanent ED due to age.

BTW: I do not have diabetes or any vascular diseases.

Jimmiefan- I am sorry that so much time has elapsed since your post of March 13th. By now you must have heard back from your primary care doctor about the results of all your blood testing. I would suspect that the tests are all normal. There is a wide range of normal on Testosterone- I don't believe that a reading in the lower aspect of the normal range is particularly pathologic and is unlikely to account for your symptoms. Without associated "andropausal symptoms" of low testosterone such as chronic fatigue, low sex drive, depression, weight gain, and loss of muscle mass, it is unlikely that your low range testosterone is affecting you in any negative way.
Your specific symptoms of penile numbness and penile "shrinkage" are nonspecific and hard to characterize. In general, in your age group, in the absence of diabetes or vascular disease, most cases of ED are psychogenic- related to performance anxiety. This is a very real problem for those men afflicted. It is best treated with behavior modification therapy, sometimes assisted with PDE5 inhibitors such as Viagra used as a temporary "crutch" until normal sexual performance is realized. You should discuss this further with your physician.
