Has anyone had prostate surgery or other procedures and have ED? What options have you tried to cure it? Did it work? JW

Hey JW,
Yes, I had prostate cancer and had surgery to remove my prostrate on Oct. 4 of 2007. The results of this surgery are that the cancer is gone and all PSA scans have shown to be 0.00. This is a good thing, however, Oct. 3, 2007 was the last time I had a natural erection. This is not so good. I began taking the viagra type drugs a few weeks after surgery with no results at all. About 3 months after surgery I got a pump and can't begin tell you what a disapointment that was. While it will pump up an erection it is not natural at all because the erection starts outside the body which causes a hinge effect, and for me intercourse is just not possible. About this same time a PA at the office told me and my wife that we could still be intimate without an erection and that with the aid of a viborator we could both have a really good time and that you didn't have to have an erection to have an orgasm. He is right the small egg shaped vibrator is amazing for both of us, so now sex life is good again, its just not in the conventional way. I forgot to mention that I was 45 years old and very sexually active with my wife who was 42. We had been married for 25 years, She has been a trooper through all of this. About a month after trying the pump I tried the muse supposotories which do not work at all for me. After that in desparation I decided to try the caverject injections... something about sticking a needle in your buddy is just not right, but, it did work and has worked almost every time but they are very expensive so I rarely use them. I still try the viagra drug every once in a while and it begins to make something happen but I have only had an erection capible of penitration a couple of times and they didn't last long enough for either of us. It has now been 19 months post surgery and my wife and I are talking about concidering an implant but have not actually talked to the Urologist yet. This has been a very frustrating process... Oh how I long for the good old days. I hope this helps. Clay

Please keep me posted on your status Clay - I just went through prostate treatment, did not do the surgery, but radiation, and this was the second time. Four years ago, they planted seeds, I was able to still have an erection with the help of vigras.. but this year, my cancer came back and they placed radiation rods in me, plus hormone therapy with 8 weeks of external radiation. Now I cannot even get an erection, even with vigra -

I been trying to research info on these VED devices/pump and other solutions, but it hard to know if they will work or not since there is no central place to truly research and see facts.. I am confused more than ever, been looking at pumps, implant and injections. So I would be interested to find out if the implant work and how much is the average cost.

thanks

Hey CLAY
In about the same boat as you to include age. Pump works for me but the injections did not. Where are you with the implant idea?
