Recovery after prosthesis

Post a new topicby westil on Wed Apr 30, 2008 3:51 pm

I am considering a prosthesis after everything else has failed to help since cancer surgery and radiation treatments the last two years. Most of my work is at a desk.

How long should I expect to be off work?

In general, I advise my patients to expect to take up to a week off from work due to discomfort and swelling post surgery. After this period of time, a man may return to work with the understanding that they will be sore and swollen for several more weeks following surgery. Ice packs and antiinflammatory agents such as Motrin/Aleve are quite helpful during this period of time.
