bladder dysfunction and impotenceI was recently reading an article that stated that impotence can be related to bladder dysfunction. I have had bladder problems for years and erectile problems that developed around the same time. Whether there is a correlation I don't know, but I would be intersted in learning more about this issue, including treatment options. If anyone can offer further information, I would appreciate it.
Re: bladder dysfunction and impotenceIt's not so simple. The underlying causes of some bladder problems may also cause difficulties with erections. A spinal cord injury or disease is one example. Radical prostate surgery and diabetes are other examples. Only a urologist will be able to tell you about the nature of your problems and if they are related.

Re: Re: bladder dysfunction and impotenceYou do not indicate if you have been under the care of a urologist or not. If not, then you should be, and you can raise this issue with him. If you have been seeing a urologist, then you need to ask him specifically about your sexual dysfunction. If you have not discussed this with him, he may not know about it. If he is aware, a change of medication may be all that is necessary. As the other poster says, though, these issues can be complex and intertwined. I might add that a healthy lifestyle will go a long ways towards helping out, so be sure to eat right and get some exercise if you aren't now doing so.
