Lab Normals for Testosterone

Post a new topicby Guest on Sun Jan 20, 2002 3:20 pm

I need to know what the normals are for testosterone in a healthy 50 yo male now experiencing ED. Viagra works nicely, and some non-viagra dependent function is improving as we work through this together. He just got his labs back and was told he has testosterone deficiency What are the normal ranges? Is T. measured in mils?

I have seen testosterone levels reported in nMol/L and ng/ml, depending on the laboratory method employed. There is always a wide range of normal, but each practitioner has a level that is considered low (from his/her reference lab) that is utilized for diagnoses. Please check with your doctor re normal values locally.

Testosterone is measured two ways

Conventional Range (ng/dL) for a 50 yr old (250 - 450)
SI Range (nmol/L) for a 50 yr old (8.675 - 15.61)
