Hi. I also have fibromyalgia. Since you are with a PCP, you may want to ask the nurses who the best doctor is to treat you conditions. The nurses should know which doctors are good. Honestly some doctors understand fibromyalgia and have a heart and others don't want to deal with anything that is a challenge. It is not your fault that you have these conditions, so don't blame yourself.

Having been with an HMO, years ago my husband was diagnosed with asthma. The HMO did not want the doctors to use more expensive medicines so they kept pushing one type of medicine. It was shown later that that medicine was ineffective with asthma, which the drug company said it was great for it. It was also very inexpensive. He suffered with continuous asthma for months. Anyway, have your husband go with you so he can fight for you. It is so hard to fight for yourself when you are having so much pain and are so sick. Tell your husband what you would like for him to do, like make sure you mention all of your symptoms, which medicines worked for you, etc. If that doctor doesn't seem to be able to help you, go and see another doctor. If your HMO cannot help you, I do believe that you are entitled to then go outside the HMO (with permission and get it in writing) and get treatment from a doctor that can help you. Remember that you are not alone and help will soon be there for you.

Just found your post. I have IC... 12 years. IC basically the lining on your bladder has broken down. You need to try:
Oxytrol patch
Elmiron
Citracal (vitamin) - I take 4-6 tablets a day
It appears there is some relation to "crystals" in the bladder that could irrate the lining and
calcium CITRATE (only) breaks them down.
Get on the ICA website and educate yourself.
This is just a few.
The doctors you are seeing should have their license taken away. I do not know the state you live in but there is a dr in NJ that has relieved my pain. He is the most caring doctor I have ever had. I receive kenalog injections into the bladder. This is done in the hospital and you are not awake. Also lidocaine is a numbing cream. You might try that around the urethra if it is inflamed.

Hope this helps.

This may not be helpful to you, but I know if I use any other soap than Ivory, I get a UTI. It seems too simple a solution maybe, but switching to Ivory soap made a huge difference for me. Take care.
