Living with Fibro

Post a new topicby livingwith on Tue Mar 10, 2009 11:09 am

I was diagnoised with fibro at 15 and I’m now 21. I have a 2 year old son that is diagnosed with cerebral palsy and seizures so my schedule is full with his therapies and doctor appointments. I have a wonderful doctor and I’m also on 7 different prescriptions and none of them help. I also research fibro online, but it seems like no body understands what causes it. It’s also depressing knowing I got to live like this for the rest of my life. I have migraines everyday and my whol...Read the full article

Hi Teresa. Don't give up. You have so very much on your plate right now.
Anyone would be overwhelmed. I, too, have tried many medications. Lyrica
did not work for me. I am on Prozac 40 mgs with 1mg of Ativan at night.
I am waiting to get the Lyrica out of my system. In a couple of weeks,
I will try 10 mgs of Elavil gradually increasing the dosage each week to no more
than 50 mg. if I can tolerate it. They hope that this will help with pain. So fare in my life with fibro,I found that the more drugs I took, the worse I became. I could not see the forest from the trees. I only know that when I got off these various drugs, with the exception of the
current Prozac, I felt better. I am not saying to go off your drugs, that would be stupid.
But, do review them. Ask the Dr. if it is possible that any have "pooped out".

Feeling better, I know, is relative because it is so very rare to feel GOOD.
I would strongly suggest meditation if you can sit still. In a chair, feet on the floor,
hands on thighs. Close your eyes. Don't try to stop all the thoughts from
bubbling up in your brain. Just let it rip. Like all the bubbles in soda fizzing to the top of the glass. And, when it comes to mind, think PEACE, RELAX, and breathe deep. Try it twice a day for 15 minutes you can. If not, just when you can.
Let us know how you feel. We will be waiting. You are not alone. Take each moment , each day, one thing at a time.

do it when you are able.
