Newbie NOT to Fibro - Just to this group. Injections???

Greetings to all,

I am a 60 year old female and I've had Fibro for 12 years now. It initially began as CFIDS, and within 2 years the pain came along. I was lucky in that I was diagnosed properly, and I think I have tried every medication possible to treat this obstinate illness. Seems that one medication will work for a period of time, then it wears off and we have to try something new. It has become wearisome.

I went to a pain clinic last month and was diagnosed with myofacial pain syndrome along with bursitus. He suggested I do the trigger point injections along with a cortisone injection in my neck, so I decided to give it a go. For the first 2 days it was awesome, but now the pain, stiffness and burn is returning. I was euphoric, thinking that we had finally found the magic bullet, but 48 hours of relief was just not enough to get real excited about. I am feeling frustrated and down once again. Maybe there is just NO getting over this illness after a certain age?? Honestly, I have tried almost everything. Now I am on Lyrica, morphine sulfate, hydracordone and antidepressants. I lost my only son to suicide almost 4 years ago and wonder if that is antagonizing my illness.

I am curious to see if anyone else on this forum has tried the injections and what your results were. I hope that belonging to a forum again will be helpful.

Hello,
I am a newbe to this group too; however was diegnosed with FMS over 7 years ago.
From my experiences & research on FMS, as you probebly know by now the tragedy probebly affected your FMS.
I have a question as well; I don't know if it's FMS but, bickering & arguing or crying around tends to trigger high irritation? I haven't as of yet read anything about it or about at times forgetting how to spell small words we all learned in childhood?

dear snooksiam my name is ralph pelkey ive never tryed the shots but i do have sever fibro i lost my son about 9 years ago he to took his own life.I cant help you with your answer but i can give you a poem to help you with the loss of your son.I wrote this after my son died and it gives me a great deal of comfort i hope it does the same for you I guess it been some time gone by that my son justin has died.I look up to heven with a tear in my eye and GOD reaches down and wipes them dry.He said my son put your faith in me and all you pain i will set free.So i look up to heaven through his blue sky I saw a glimmer of hope with a tear in my eye.But this tear is not a tear of pain GOD is telling me my son lives again.SO I GIVE YOU MY PRAISE MY LORD ON HIGH FOR GIVING ME THIS TEAR IN MY EYE to my son justin m pelkey 10-03-1977 to 11-09-2000 written by you dad r pelkey
