further to Vit D/muscle weakness question yesterday

Post a new topicby Guest on Sun Jun 03, 2001 12:12 pm

I don't have Vit D dosage wrong -- it is 50,000 -- I neglected to say it is only taken 1 capsule per week eight weeks -- after , since seems to be a recurring problem me, anor cse of 50,000 IU will be prescribed, will be taken only once per month -- how long hasn't yet been determined I imagine it will continue until my Vit D level (if 's correct term) is stabilized at an acceptable level -- now I've added fact, I still have question re muscle weakness headaches -- se typical of deficiency, or am I still feeling residual effects from attempted medication switch? anf if it is latter, how long will last tried medication (Topamax) remain in my system (it stopped on 4-17). Thanx any info/help!

whichever MD answered, many thanx -- what puzzles me, tho',is how you stated that the same symptoms could be caused by either an excess or a deficiency -- wouldn't it be one or the other? can either too much or too little cause the same set of symptoms? (or am I misinterpreting your answer)? thanx!

Both deficiencies and toxic levels of vitamins and minerals can lead to problems.

An excess of Vitamine D can result in different problems, including changes in calcium metabolism which can cause neurological symptoms. You may want to search on the internet about Vitamin D to learn all about these issues.

The Topamax should not be causing any side effects at this time and should be out of your system. You should speak to your doctor to determine what iws causing the symptoms that you are having, as it is possible they are related to a deficiency, or excess vitamin D which results in changes in calcium metabolism etc.
