possible brain aneurysm? My boyfriend has been having severe headaches for the past 4-5 months. He has them almost everyday, somtimes mild, sometimes so bad he can barely stand up. The only thing he's been doing is taking many tylenols to help put him to sleep (they don't do anything for the pain). A few weeks ago a co-worker of his noticed a vain bulging in the back of his head, like it was about to explode, and if she barely touched it, his headache got much worse. To make a long story of how bad canadian healthcare is short, his CTscan hasn't been scheduled until Oct. 31st. Right now he's refusing to pay to have it done in the states and I'm afraid of what could happen if he continues to wait and this is a brain aneurysm. Any advice would be very helpful... thank you. (his BP has gone up extremely high a few times and he's taken a few knocks to the head in previous months)
Re: possible brain aneurysm? It sounds like things should be done as soon as possible, however, if his doctor has performed a full exam and feels he is stable without signs of a central nervous system problems, the waiting may not be avoided. What you are describing in the back of the head would not likely be related to anything in the brain. His doctor might suggest other pain medications in the interim, or treatment for the particular type of headache he is having. Good luck.
