throbbing headI have had strange head symptoms for about 9 months now. It feels as if I am standing on my head. My heartbeat can be heard, and it gets much louder with the slightest exertion. There is a feeling of "fullness" in my head. And if I bend over, it is much worse. I do have menstral migraines. I also get migraines if I'm out in the heat for too long. I've taken zomig for the headaches, but it doesn't always work. Family doctor did a MRI with and without contrast, it turned out normal. He sent me to a neurologist, who performed a neuro exam (walk the line, touch your nose, resistance tests on the limbs, that kind of thing) Everything was normal. He said he'd like to try a prophylaxis of nortriptyline for the headaches. I said the headaches don't bother me as much as the throbbing noise in my head. He said that's a form of headache. I have had a high pitched ringing of the ears ever since I can remember. I am otherwise a healthy 36 year old female, 135 lbs, 5'7" good blood pressure usually around 100/65, taking orthotricyclene. My cholesteral is usually around 220, though. My dad had a cerebral aneurysm. Does it sound right that this is just a headache?
Re: throbbing headPounding/pulsating feelings int eh head can accompany migraine. MRA studies of the brain to rule out any vascular problem (including aneurysm) may be helpful). Addressing your cholesterol is also a good idea.
