Worried about going to the neurologist

Post a new topicby charlied on Fri Nov 16, 2007 10:13 am

Hi
I have been suffering with constant daily headaches with the odd migraine thrown in for the last seven years. My most recent headaches have been lasting over 9 weeks, the doc has given me Imigran nasal spary for the migraines which dull the intensity of the attack and initially amitriptyline and then pizotifen - neither of which have touched the constant pain/ache.

He has now told me to come off everything which is ok as at least i'e stopped feeling so bloody drowsy and i'm off to the neurologist which does worry me.

Can anyone tell me what to expect and what my choices are re drugs?- my doctor spoke about an anti-epilepsy drug.
Can i say i'm looking forward to speaking to other sufferers as my family and friends have now given up asking how i feel as they know the answer!!!

I suggest charting your symptoms before you see your doc. Be as descirptive as possible. The more you can help your doc, the more helpful your doc can be. Never be afraid to get a second opinion.

Thanks for your advice - i will do but i try not to think about them too much as i find the reality of continuous headaches quite depressing - i can see the reason behind it so will begin one today as docs appt in 3 weeks - thanks
