Can hypertension be cured?Hi. I was diagnosed with hypertension at the early age of 26. Since then I had been taking hypertension pills. About 6 months ago I started regular excercise. Lately I was feeling very week and at times giddy sometimes even a little chest discomfort. Fearing the worst i went for a BP check. To my astonishment, Doc said that my BP was considerably low. She made me undergo stress test which came absolutely fine. The Doc said I dont need medicine anymore and advised me to stop taking the BP pill (Metpure XL 25) and see if i get any discomfort. She said my excercise has helped me to get my BP lower. For a day or two i did feel uneasy but it would get better with the day.
I have been taking medicines for hypertension since last 8 years. Is it true that anybody can get cured of BP by excercising? Should I consult another doctor? I'm not taking the medicine for over a week now. I feel fine except for a little fluttering of heart at times. I'm continuing with my excercise routine. Will this have any adverse affect on my heart? Are there any withdrawal symptoms/side effects of stopping such drugs after a prolonged use?
Re: Can hypertension be cured?Hi,
Just happenened to read through your post. In fact, I was also prescribed Metpure XL-25 and Arbitel-H recently. As I can understand it, one is a Beta Blocker & other is an ACE-Inhibitor . After starting these medicines , I feel very weak & exhausted , though the BP is within normal limits. Though I have been taking different medicines in the past, I never felt so lethargic. This could be side-effect of the medicines or perhaps I may be taking over-dose. Thanks
