hypertension

Post a new topicby Guest on Thu Jun 13, 2002 12:19 am

My 79 year old mother's blood pressure rises to 190 to 200 on the top number. The bottom number stays around 70. She is on 160mg. Diovan and 100mg. Tenormin and 25mg. of HTZ. It is not one bit better. Emergency room visits and her doctor seem not to be concerned. It seems like when they give her something that brings the top number down some the bottom number gets too low. She is in fairly good health for her age if not for her blood pressure. What should she do before she has a stroke or heart attack Thank You

1. Please keep a log of daily BP at home.
2. Have her seen by a cardiologist for BP management. There are so many other medications can be tried which are better and stronger. Same meds don't work in all patients for reasons.
