6 month test?

Post a new topicby Guest on Mon Apr 22, 2002 6:04 pm

About 2 years ago, my girlfriend had unprotected sex with a (former) friend of ours. She had an HIV test at the local public health department a little bit after 6 months after this episode, which was negative.

How reassuring is this?

Thank you.

I forgot to add: He did not ejaculate inside of her.

It's incredibly reassuring. >90% of tests wil be positive by 6 WEEKS. Most of the rest will be positive by 6 mos. The remaining false negatives are people with very high risk exposures (sharing dirty needles with known positives or ejaculation into rectum or vagina from known positives BOTH with symptoms of ARS). Does she fit either of these categories???
