What do you think

Post a new topicby Guest on Mon May 20, 2002 11:03 pm

Hi,

I had protective sex with a sex worker, insertive vaginal. 20 days after I had an antigen p24 test and a proviral DNA test which came back OK. I had a negative ELISA at 8 and 12.5 weeks. I had 2 seperate ELISA's done at 6 months both of which were negative. At 6 months I also had an indepth T-Cell test which showed everything to be fine. With the low risk involved do you think that this is conclusive testing as far as medical sience will allow. I have had no symptoms of anything other than anxiety I have also tested negative for Hep B at 7 months. I tested negative for Syphallis, Gyonerea and Clamydia. Do you think at this stage it would be unbelievable for me to be undiagnosed especially for HIV at this stage given the testing I have put myself through. I have had zero exposures since this incident. Given the testing that I've done do you know of any cases that have gone undiagnosed for HIV with all of those tests done?

If you had sex with an hiv positive person (something you possibly did), and the condom was intact for the whole time you were inside her, the risk is about zero. When you add to that all of the negative tests, you come up NEGATIVE. GR

Doctor,

Have there been any recent documented and proven cases of serconversion taken longer than 6 months to your knowledge and what have been the factors attributed to it to the best of your knowledge.

Kind Regards,

Kevinber

Kevin, the only cases I know of were in the late 80's or early 90's before we had the much more sensitive elisas we now have and before viral load testing.
I'd attribute to less effective testing technology in the past. GR
