Long-term post-supracervical lapriscopic hysterectomy

Post a new topicby featheredpines on Mon Nov 12, 2007 1:08 pm

For most of my life I was athletic - not just active, but athletic. Very low blood pressure, low (bad) cholesterol, no health concerns. Basically, I was a very healthy, toned and fit person. Until I began to suffer monthly to the point of being unable to leave the bathroom, much less go to work, two days per month and was finally referred for a hysterectomy after suffering the condition for five years.

April 2007, I had a hysterectomy done via three small abdominal incisions. My cervix and ovaries were left in, the surgeon only taking the uterus. However, sudden new health problems arose.

Since the hysterectomy, I've gained over 20 pounds. I still eat healthy and exercise daily, but it isn't making any difference. My BMI has gone from 22 to 27. More difficult though, is the sudden intense pain and icy-coldness in my feet and hands. Even when the inside temperature is over 70F, often my feet and fingers are so icy-cold they are very painful and numb. There are times I try to walk and my feet are so cold, and hurt so bad, I cannot walk. This situation arose immediately after surgery.

Now it's November 2007, months after my surgery. The sudden health problem post-surgery is intense and there was not even a hint of this issue before my surgery. Of course the surgeon denies a link.

Oh my gosh what happened. Did you see a neurologist yet? I can't see how your sx would effect this but I hope you find some resolutions.
